Monday Mix: Social Media News You May Have Missed

The new year is almost here! Before 2015 arrives, make sure you’re up-to-date on the latest social media headlines.

  • Facebook Invites Users to Create Year in Review, Receives Some Criticism: Facebook launched an app to gather a user’s popular photos and status updates of the previous year. Most users were prompted to see and post their “Year in Review” when they logged into Facebook in the last week. Unfortunately, “Year in Review” cannot distinguish between happy and sad memories so some users have been confronted with memories they’d rather leave in the past. Facebook has issued an apology for not building an opt-out feature into “Year in Review.”
  • Twitter Launches Mobile Tweet Analytics for iOS: Twitter analytics are now available for iOS users. A tweet’s analyticscan be accessed by clicking on an individual tweet and clicking on the “View Analytics Details” link underneath the tweet. Analytics details include total impressions, total engagements, percentage of people who retweeted and clicked on a tweet, and the percentage of people who clicked on the user’s profile picture or name.
